Spring Lake
Spring Lake, 2011
" A lake is the landscape's most beautiful and expressive feature. It is earth's eye; looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature." ~Henry David Thoreau
It's been a long, long winter. Spring is just around the corner. I cannot wait until the lake is in full bloom; green and lush and reflecting the warm sky.

Painting Grassy Wetland on an Icy Day
Grassy Wetland, 2011 (close up)
"The wetland conservation has started, but we need more water flow to have a functioning ecosystem." - Elizabeth Heise
I decided to think about how all this snow and ice will provide the water for our grass and wetlands this summer. This lead me to my research, and to my painting entitled Grassy Wetland. It was great to turn this negative weather into an inspiration for my new painting.

A New Perspective on Painting
Autumn Lake, 2010
"When I was young I painted trees and the clouds just as I saw them. As I grew older and learned something about art, I realized that I couldn't paint the trees and clouds as I saw them, and so I painted them differently. And when I became much older, and looked back on a lifetime of painting trees and clouds, I realized that I had always painted the trees and the clouds as I saw them."

No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow. ~Proverb
I cannot wait until the snow and ice are gone and spring is finally here.
To remind me of the warmer weather ahead, I am posting my paintings:

Too cold for hiking...glad Andrew fixed the treadmill!
Too cold to go hiking! Thank you Andrew, my genius son, for fixing the software problem on my treadmill. Now I have no excuse not to exercise, despite the weather outdoors.
